Introduction

"Individual Valuism" is a philosophy that asserts that value only exists relative to individuals; it is not objective or relative to cultures.

The philosophy is meant for a wide audience. It can be read here. It is 6200 words long (11 pages in Word). Major points can be previewed in the box below.

Articles are put online about every other weekend. They comment on various parts of the philosophy or everyday life.

IV MAJOR POINTS:

Value and goodness is that which causes reality to be influenced in a positive way
"Something is of value if it causes a desirable outcome."

Value only exists relative to a point of view
"Knowing value requires a mind to think in the same way as knowing beauty requires eyes to see."

The individual is the basic unit of knowing value
"Every individual is an independent consciousness whose existence lasts a finite time."

Right actions (to someone) are those that have positive consequences (to him)
"What is good to a person is what makes the universe desirable in his point of view."

What society considers to be of value is not necessarily applicable to individuals
"The importance of wisdom and truth to an intelligent person cannot be validated or invalidated by the views of anyone else."

Powerful evidence should be required to believe in mysticism
"Feel free to try to find out if your world is a dream or under the rule of supernatural forces, but don’t accept such ideas without serious thought."

Individuals have the right to live for their own sake without external oppression
"My thoughts and actions are not subject to the demands of any person, city, family, religion, ethnic group, society, or even the entire human population."

Your life. Your values.
